Countries around the world are offering to give Myanmar more than one hundred million dollars in aid. But they still need to be convinced the ruling junta will keep its promise to give international aid workers access to the devastated Irawaddy delta. Myanmar was pummeled by Cyclone Nargis in early May. More than 80,000 died, and more than 50,000 people are still missing.

The Dalai Lama is condemning what he calls China's rule of terror. Chinese police are reported to be going from door to door in the capital Llhasa, hunting Tibetans involved in the most serious uprising against Chinese rule for nearly 20 years. Tibet's self declared government in exile says 80 people have been killed. Protests appear to be spreading outside Tibet as latest reports from Sichuan in south west China say 3 protesters have been shot dead there.
